Sweet, a little salty, and so good they might be gone in less than a day. These Skor Bars are truly something special! Made with 3 ingredients, that you don’t even have to measure out, they’re almost too good to be true. Add them to your festive cookie box, bring them to a potluck, or serve them as an easy dessert to guests.
I tried these bars about a month ago when I was visiting some friends. It was a fateful moment when the cookie box was passed my way! Buttery, chewy, sweet; it was love at first bite. She wrote down the recipe for me to whip up my own batch and, to my surprise, there were just three ingredients.
Not only is this recipe made with 3 ingredients, but you also don’t even have to measure. A box of Rits, a bag of Skor, and a can of condensed milk. They might just be the perfect bars. I was craving some chocolate when I was at the store getting the ingredients, so I decided on a simple chocolate ganache to take my version to the next level.

- Ritz crackers – Butter, flour, and salt. These are the perfect crackers to make these bars. If you want to grab a substitute, make sure they’re as similar to Ritz as possible.
- Skor bits – Also sold in packages as “English toffee bits”.
- Sweetened condensed milk – Make sure you grab a can of condensed milk and not evaporated milk.
You might be wondering why my photo has a bowl of Skor bits rather than a bag. Well, I couldn’t find any bags at my local grocery store. I ended up finding these at Bulk Barn and measuring out the 200g equivalent to one bag.
How to make Skor bars
Skor bars
- Preheat the oven to 350F. Line an 8×8 pan with parchment paper. Crush the package of Ritz crackers into small bits; it’s okay if the sizes of the pieces vary.
- Mix the crushed crackers, Skor bits, and condensed milk together until well combined.
- Use a spatula to transfer the mixture to your prepared pan and smooth it out evenly. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until slightly browned around the edges. Allow to cool fully before removing from the pan and slicing.
Optional Topping
- Allow the bars to cool for at least 10 minutes before making the topping. Add the chocolate chips and heavy cream to a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely smooth.
- Spread the ganache evenly into the pan using a spatula. Allow everything to fully cool down to room temperature, or you can let it cool in the fridge for firmer bars.
Sweetened condensed milk
There’s not really a substitute for this ingredient! If you want to avoid the grocery stores, I bet you have everything you need to make it at home. This simple guide will make exactly as much as you need for this recipe.
- 1 1/2 cups milk – Any type, but ideally whole (3.25%)
- 1/2 cup sugar – Granulated.
- 3 tbsp butter – Unsalted.
- 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Whisk the milk and sugar in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Continue to whisk until the mixture bubbles, then reduce the heat to a gentle simmer. Stir often to avoid milk burning on the bottom of the pan.
- Making sure to stir often, let the mixture cook until reduced by half. About 30 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the heat, then stir in the butter and vanilla.
How to store Skor bars
Transfer the fully cooled bars to an airtight container or large freezer bar. They will last 3-4 days at room temperature or 1 week in the fridge.
You can also freeze these bars for up to 3 months. Let them thaw fully at room temperature rather than using a fast method like the microwave; the chocolate will melt and make a bit of a mess. The squares are small, so they should thaw pretty quickly.
